Inland port agreement to provide 200-mile rail route in Ga.

A direct 200-mile rail route will be set up between the Georgia Ports Authority's Garden City Terminal in Savannah, Ga., and the inland Port of Cordele, thanks to a deal agreed to by the GPA, Gov. Nathan Deal and Cordele Intermodal Services. "Instead of trucks having to make the round trip from here to Savannah or Brunswick, drivers can now drop their cargo at the inland port, allowing shorter hauls and more frequent turns," said state Rep. Buddy Harden, R-Cordele.
