Manchester United joins Twitter and Sina Weibo

Soccer team Manchester United has joined Twitter and the China-based social network Sina Weibo in a bid to broaden its social media outreach to its global fan base. The team attracted 200,000 followers within a few hours of opening its Twitter account, although that's far short of the 9.4 million who follow FC Barcelona, the most popular soccer club on the social network.
