Nonprofit's grant to bring the arts into core subjects in Los Angeles

A California nonprofit group is expected to announce a $750,000 grant initiative to revive arts education in the Los Angeles Unified School District after five years of budget cuts. The plan calls for increased funding for arts education and the incorporation of the arts into core subjects, including math, science, English and social studies. The effort will kick off next month when educators and artists participate in training and consider how to connect a 1913 Russian ballet and orchestral concert to academic lessons.
