According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, fewer flights are running on time this year than last year. In May, 79.4% of domestic flights arrived on time, which was at 83.4% during the same month a year before. Delta had the best on-time record of the major U.S. carriers. "Consolidation, meaning fewer flights, results in better operational reliability for the flights that are remaining," said Alan Bender, professor of Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
