Ruling against Apple in e-book fight improves Amazon's fortune

Amazon has won an e-commerce victory against rival Apple, Chantal Tode writes. A court ruled Apple colluded with a major publisher to set the price of e-books higher than the loss-leader price Amazon was using to promote Kindle device sales. The court "basically granted Amazon, if not a monopoly, then a pretty large share of the e-book market and said you can't challenge that by charging higher prices," Yankee Group's Carl Howe says.
