SUMO-4 find could be big for juvenile diabetes

Researchers have discovered that a gene mutation called SUMO-4 is one of several that contributes to type 1 diabetes, according to a report in Nature Genetics. The discovery may lead to screening measures that could pick out children at risk for the disease earlier than before.
