Wireless chip makers TI, Infineon change tactics

Texas Instruments is winding down its wireless-chip unit, which accounted for about 20% of its $12.5 billion in 2008 revenue, as part of its plan to focus on faster-growing markets for analog and embedded chips. German chip maker Infineon is going through a similar transformation, winning a $1 billion rights issue that the company says it plans to use to pay down its debt and to start fresh.
