AT&T CTO: IPhone is another step toward open networks

The wireless industry has gradually evolved toward a more open network arena with the iPhone representing a step in that direction, but "until we find a healthy system where everyone gets paid and friction is low, then I don't think we've tipped past the midpoint," AT&T Chief Technology Officer John Donovan said Monday. Donovan also insisted that AT&T "will move heaven and Earth" to meet subscribers' needs.
