Census jobs end; workers are hopeful they'll find employment

The Census Bureau has cut loose about 225,000 of its temporary workers in recent weeks, and more of the approximately 700,000 hired to conduct the census will be shed in the coming months. Many of the workers say they hope the unemployment picture is not as bleak as it was when they landed the census jobs last year. "It must be better now, right?," said one census worker.
