Iowa to make laser record of its Madison County bridges

Iowa's aging Madison County covered bridges -- made famous by "The Bridges of Madison County" novel and movie -- are getting a 21st century checkup. A $50,000 laser-scanning project aims to record the bridges' shape in two and three dimensions. That way, if more of the county's iconic bridges fall apart, the county can rebuild accurate replicas.
