RIM takes a step to expand Protect features to consumers

Research in Motion has moved to provide a limited number of consumers with BlackBerry Protect security features that are normally geared toward enterprise users, the smartphone-maker said Monday. RIM said it would launch an expanded beta test that would reach more consumers later this year. RIM has also gradually begun offering details of its upcoming 6.0 BlackBerry software upgrade, but still declined to release a ship date.
