Training credited for reducing damage from LPG pipeline blast

Last week's propane-pipeline explosion in McDuffie County, Ga., would have been a greater disaster if firefighters hadn't specifically trained for just such a situation, says county Fire Chief Bruce Tanner. The county's firefighters hold annual training sessions with pipeline operators, so they knew exactly how to shut down the pipeline and determine the extent of the potential liquid petroleum gas leak.
