Work on the $780 million first phase of the CityCenterDC project in Washington, D.C., is nearly finished. The project to develop a "village of office and residential buildings with street-level retail" was complicated by concurrent construction and a small site footprint. Meanwhile, work on the second phase, which includes a 370-room hotel, is slated to begin in a year. When all is done, the $1 billion public-private project will contain eight buildings.
