Marines boosting presence in northern Australia

The U.S. Marines are expanding troop numbers in Darwin, Australia, from the present-day 250 to an eventual 2,200. The Marines "will build up to a [Marine Expeditionary Unit]-size force operating out of Darwin," said Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert. The growth of U.S. troop presence in Australia has been criticized by China.
