Parties deeply split as House panel winds up FCC reform hearings

Democrats and Republicans remained at odds over Federal Communications Commission reforms as they concluded subcommittee hearings Thursday. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., argued that a thriving communications industry is threatened by poor FCC processes, but Democrats said current reform bills would stifle the agency's ability to regulate mergers and serve the public interest.
