S. African farmers turn to the Web to sell their produce

Fresh produce farmers in South Africa started Farm Gate Exchange three years ago, in an effort to cut costs with an online trading exchange that let them bypass the country's 19 city-based markets and the commissions they charge. Now, many farmers are selling directly to retailers and some large supermarkets have farmers under contract.
