Sprint trims $30 off cost of unlimited data package

Sprint lowered the starting price of its unlimited service plan from $110 a month to $80 a month and guaranteed subscribers could keep the voice, text and data package as long as they remain customers. The move was seen as a response to the shared data plans instituted by rivals AT&T and Verizon Wireless. "I would say that this is the first sign of the closing of the SoftBank and Clearwire transactions. By including Clearwire we are able to put the bandwidth to use for consumers looking for unlimited access," CEO Daniel Hesse said.
