State aid to help Chicago spare schools from budget cuts

Chicago Public Schools CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett is releasing $36 million in state aid to schools ahead of its October schedule to help spare schools from significant cuts to programs and services. She has told principals that they can expect to receive the money -- to be distributed based on school poverty levels -- by July 15.
