U.S. panel prepares to vote on regulatory nominees

The Senate banking committee is set to vote Tuesday on five White House nominees for regulatory and economic posts. In the group is Rep. Mel Watt, D-N.C., nominated to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency, an appointment that Republicans oppose. Meanwhile, Kara Stein and Michael Piwowar will be considered for the Securities and Exchange Commission.
