Want to reverse climate change? Start by burning trees

Burning trees and crops for energy could be a first step toward curbing atmospheric carbon levels, as long as it's accompanied by an effective carbon-capture system, researchers say. Still, "bioenergy" isn't a planetary get-out-of-jail-free card, says climate researcher Vivian Scott. A rapidly warming planet might not be able to produce enough biomass to bring down atmospheric carbon, Scott says.
