More aggressive therapy for cholesterol levels outlined

An NIH unit recommended new cholesterol levels that are much lower than previously believed to be the ideal range, particularly that of the LDL type, which is considered more harmful. The National Cholesterol Education Program also suggested more liberal use of prescriptions for statins to help bring down the LDL levels, including higher doses for some of those already taking the drug.
