Private label brands are hot items for grocers

Grocers such as Wegmans Food Markets are steadily expanding their private-label brands, emphasizing quality over value. Among Wegmans' 7,000 private-label items: pumpkin seed oil and pan searing flour. Sales of private label items are strongest overseas, accounting for 22% of supermarket sales in Europe and 42% in the U.K.
