Symantec buys anti-spam startup

Symantec Corp. purchased anti-spam technology startup company TurnTide Inc. for about $28 million for its method of blocking spam e-mail from where it originates, prohibiting the message from ever leaving the senders' server. TurnTide co-founder Josh Kopelman also founded the Web site Half.com in 1999 and sold it to eBay for more than $300 million less than a year later.
