UC regents to toughen eligibility requirements for admission

This week, University of California regents will vote on a proposal to shrink the eligibility pool of applicants into conformity with the state's Master Plan for Higher Education by raising the minimum GPA needed for admission from 2.8 to 3.1 in 2007. If the proposal is approved, fewer Latinos and blacks will be eligible for admission.
