Medicinal milk from genetically modified cows proposed

Suggesting that their milk products might fight cancer, HIV and osteoporosis, New Zealand's AgResearch announced a partnership with the Pharming Group of the Netherlands to create a genetically engineered dairy herd. The cows will produce recombinant human lactoferrin for use in hospital food, baby food and sports supplements, but anti-genetic engineering groups oppose the move, claiming conventional milk can produce the same components with fewer risks.
