New Kansas life-sciences authority issues first grant

The Kansas Bioscience Authority has approved its first grant out of its $6 million in state funds, $150,000 to a maker of drug-dispensing robotics to relocate to Overland Park in Kansas. The authority is to receive as much as $20 million for grants next year to attract life-sciences companies to the state, help current firms expand and encourage university research that can be spun off into companies.
