SEC explains "mutual recognition" proposal to Congress

Officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission testified at a Senate subcommittee hearing Thursday about a proposal to give foreign brokers and markets streamlined access to U.S. investors. Erik Sirri, SEC market regulation division director, said that SEC Chairman Christopher Cox had requested that a task force be formed to make recommendations about "mutual recognition" of non-U.S. regulators.
