Study: Chemical compound in LCD panels could have medical benefit

The chemical compound polyvinyl-alcohol, commonly used to build LCD televisions, may have a medical use in delivering drugs to certain parts of the body, according to a study. Researchers say they have developed a way to recover the compound from old LCD screens and transform it into a substance that could be useful for building tissue scaffolds that would help parts of the body regenerate.
