Google leverages its fiber-net plans to lobby for broadband

Massively publicized plans to bring an ultrafast broadband network to a U.S. community or two have enabled Google to exploit that project to campaign for greater high-speed connectivity across the country. Google on Tuesday opened a website called Google Fiber for Communities, which will act as a base to push for federal and local support to build broadband networks in underserved areas.
