Oxendine says he will end state income tax if he becomes governor

Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine said he would eliminate the state's income tax if he wins the gubernatorial race, saying the tax cut would spur business growth and employment. Oxendine, a Republican, is also considering abolishing certain sales tax exemptions and raising the state's sales tax to generate funds, according to his campaign manager.
