Teacher-designed program excites educators about history

A Washington state history teacher won two regional Emmy awards stemming from a program he designed to help educators in Central Washington teach history. Tom Christian, who created Thorp's Teaching American History project -- which receives federal funding -- says the workshops increased enthusiasm among teachers. As part of the training, Christian conducted classroom observations to offer suggestions on teaching methods and best practices.
