House advances bill that would curtail EPA's water-regulation powers

The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a measure that would limit the Environmental Protection Agency's abilities to impose clean-water regulations and disallow EPA overrides of state rulings it previously cleared. The EPA has made an "unprecedented regulatory grab," said House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica, R-Fla., author of the bill. "There is no question that the action that we've seen from EPA has unleashed an unprecedented backlash," Mica added.
