How waitressing prepares you for life

Rachel Forrest's jobs have ranged from janitor to Internet executive, but the gig that provided most of her useful life lessons was waiting tables. "I take just about everything I learned as a waitress and apply it to my work life whether I realize it at the time or not, and that's why I think waiting tables at whatever level is something young folks should try to do, and not just do, but master and do well," she writes.
