NBCT: "Experience matters" in teaching

National Board Certified Teacher Renee Moore writes in this blog that the potential of today's veteran teachers is stifled by a focus on test preparation. She recommends schools capitalize on the experience, stability and knowledge of long-time teachers, saying, "When it comes to teaching, experience matters." She recommends that schools foster teacher leadership, give teachers time to collaborate, not tolerate out-of-field teaching assignments and manage teachers' workloads.
