Report: Spending by business travelers is expected to rise 6.8%

The Global Business Travel Association reduced its growth estimate for 2011 for the number of business trips originating in the U.S. from 3.4% to 2.3% because of the softer economy. However, the group still expects business travelers to increase their spending by 6.8% because of higher airfares and other travel-related costs. "Strong corporate profits, management sentiment, emerging-countries economic growth and rising travel prices continue to drive business-travel spending higher," the report said.
