Google acquires digital photography software firm Picasa

In an effort to further strengthen its ties to consumers, Google has acquired Picasa, a company that develops and sells digital photography software, for an undisclosed sum. The two companies already had a partnership in which Picasa's software facilitates digital photo publishing on Google's Blogger service.
