Some space in New York's Plaza Hotel gets landmark status

Some of the most famed spaces in New York City's legendary Plaza Hotel have received landmark status from the city. The Landmark Preservation Committee voted to designate eight spaces in all, including the Palm Court, the Oak Bar and the two main lobbies of the hotel. They also approved a plan by the hotel's new owners to conduct a multimillion-dollar restoration of a stained-glass dome that dates back to the hotel's 1907 opening.
