National insurance info office debate heats up

Advocates for a national insurance office applauded a House subcommittee's approval last week of the Insurance Information Act of 2008. Some who oppose it look at the bill as a first step toward creating an optional federal charter. "The NAIC unequivocally opposes any attempts to use this bill as a vehicle for such a misguided policy," said NAIC President Sandy Praeger.
