Texas data links student poverty, fitness

Across Texas, many school districts with higher poverty rates are more likely to contain children who aren't fit, according to an analysis of Texas Education Agency fitness competency results. "The problem is you can teach the children and you can do the right thing in school. But if the behaviors taught at school are not modeled at home it defeats the purpose," said Juan Carlos Reynoso, an Irving public-health educator.
