Alaska Airlines joins Boeing biofuel effort

Boeing Co. said Monday that five new carriers joined its group dedicated to speeding the development of alternative jet fuel. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel Users Group includes airlines "that are serious about a commitment to improving their performance" in carbon reduction and other sustainability measures, according to a Boeing spokesman. Alaska Airlines was among the five carriers accepted on Monday, making it the first U.S.-based carrier in the group.
