Experts speculate on effects of equipment-use rate change

The CMS' proposal to change the equipment-utilization rate from 50% to 90% might reduce the technical component for affected procedures by 40% or worse, a radiology group official said. The proposal also would reduce global reimbursement amounts by 15% to 20% -- a situation that will have a negative impact on imaging centers, according to another expert.
