Hospitals' health reform deal could affect device firms, J&J exec says

Medical-device makers likely will see a decline in sales as a result of the $155 billion agreement between the hospital industry and the Obama administration to overhaul the U.S. health care system, said Dominic Caruso, Johnson & Johnson's chief financial officer. Since Medicare reimburses hospitals, the government-funded health plan could force hospitals to cut spending on procedures that involve medical devices, Caruso said.
