Report: Local and social start to come together

About $1 out of every $5 spent on ads in social media comes from local advertisers, but social networks are only claiming 3% of the local online ad spend, Borrell Associates is reporting. Facebook and MySpace are responsible for 57% of local ad expenditures on social networks and are the only social-media sites to tally more than $100 million from the local segment, according to Borrell.
