Researchers examine rising rate of thyroid cancer

American Cancer Society researchers said environmental exposures, dietary changes and genetic causes might be behind an increase in thyroid cancer cases since the early 1980s. Researchers also found that despite earlier detection, survival rates did not improve for men or women diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
