"Augmented reality" finds more applications

"Augmented reality" is finding its way into more products as the technological barriers fall away. The technology appears in iPhone applications such as "Firefighter 360," a game that depicts the user's surroundings in flames. It could also be coming to a slew of Android apps via a Qualcomm augmented-reality developer's kit. "We're taking what's really hard [about creating augmented reality] and we'll make it available to developers for free," Qualcomm's Jay Wright said.
