Colony Capital, Cogsville Group win bid in $1.85 billion FDIC auction

A venture between Colony Capital and Cogsville Group has won $1.85 billion of distressed real estate loans in a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. auction. It is the second-largest such sale of commercial-property debt to a public-private partnership. The firms paid $445 million -- or 59 cents on the dollar -- for a 40% stake in the portfolio.
