Ensco files suit against new U.S. drilling ban

U.K.-based Ensco Offshore has filed a legal challenge against the U.S. government's imposition of safety requirements for drilling, saying it was arbitrary and rushed. The company's suit also questions what it calls delays in the issuance of shallow-water drilling permits. Hornbeck Offshore Services, meanwhile, said it had "substantial concerns" over whether the new drilling moratorium was consistent with a court ruling that lifted the original stoppage.
