More people are using the social-networking site Facebook to reconnect with and express gratitude toward their former teachers. Many teachers -- some now retired -- are surprised at the accolades they are receiving despite research that shows teachers can have a significant impact on adolescents' lives. "The most powerful factor in transforming students is a relationship with a caring teacher who a kid feels particularly connected to," one researcher said.
