GE looks to inspire smart-grid developers with a $200M contest

General Electric announced a $200 million contest aimed at entrepreneurs and researchers to come up with ideas for smart-grid development. The company also unveiled an electric-vehicle charger and other products as part of its push into clean energy. CEO Jeffrey Immelt estimated that the global market for advanced electric-grid technology will be worth $1.5 billion by 2013.
