Recipes are easy to find online, but computers can't take the place of cookbooks, many say. "You can Google 'chicken' and 'asparagus' and get a thousand recipes. But in a cookbook, the author tells you why he likes the recipe and how it works," says Bill LeBlond, editorial director at Chronicle Books.
